Maritza Ming joined Harris Keenan & Goldfarb in March 2024 as a dedicated advocate for justice. She has always been driven by a passion to help others, a calling she recognized as early as 9 years old. Growing up in a neighborhood plagued by crime, Maritza witnessed firsthand the injustices faced by people of color within the legal system. This fueled her desire to pursue a career in law, with the goal of bringing justice to those who need it most.
Maritza earned her B.A. from Binghamton University in 1994, graduating with a triple major in Political Science, Philosophy, and Law and Society, alongside a minor in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. She went on to receive her J.D. from Fordham Law School in 1997.
Maritza has represented countless victims throughout her career, securing trial verdicts in challenging cases and exonerating those wrongfully convicted or accused. She played a key role in creating the City’s first dedicated Youth Court, which focuses on rehabilitating young offenders by providing them with the services and opportunities they need to rebuild their lives. Maritza is also deeply committed to diversifying the legal profession and the justice system, working tirelessly to ensure that people of color have a voice.
Her professional accomplishments are numerous, including coaching a local high school Mock Trial team to its first National Championship and creating partnerships that have provided young people with invaluable insights into the justice system. She has been recognized for her contributions to public service with awards such as the Dominican Bar Association Honoree (2014), the Kings County Criminal Bar Association Robert N. Kaye Memorial Award (2016), and the Brooklyn NETS Heritage Night Honoree (2018), among others.
Outside of her legal work, Maritza is a proud mother of two teenage daughters, who she refers to as her “miracle girls.” She enjoys traveling with her family, spending time at the beach, cooking, reading action or mystery novels, and cuddling with her Yorkie named Magic.
