A Brooklyn jury awarded Mr. Vargas $17.5 million for the City of New York’s violation of his civil rights for failing to provide him medical care while in custody. The jury found that the police officers involved failed to provide the necessary medical treatment and awarded $17.5 million to Mr. Vargas.

Waleed Rehman was inspired by a passion for justice and fairness from an early age. He decided to pursue a career in law while still in high school. Encouragement from his family and peers, along with his success in debate, reinforced his commitment. He was a member of the Brooklyn High School team that won the National Mock Trial Competition in 2007 in Chicago, Illinois, and he personally earned a national award for expert witness. These early achievements solidified his decision to enter the legal profession.
Before joining Harris, Keenan & Goldfarb in 2025, Waleed Rehman developed a reputation for helping clients secure life-changing settlements in cases where they had suffered greatly. He takes pride in being the first lawyer in his large family and community, and he is committed to making a meaningful difference for his clients.
